Fellow Adventurers...

 

Nine years ago, I set out to enjoy retirement vacations with a 2010 19' Flying Cloud and was utterly astounded at how much fun it all was. And I do mean EVERYTHING...I love the set-up, the towing, the parking, the fabulous destinations, the takedown, the messy weather days, the glorious sunshine, the maintenance and the love my fellow vacationers showed my little "Sunbeam" (yes I can't help but name my Airstreams and my vehicles).  There is something about Airstreams that strikes a chord of simpler times, purer times.  Complete strangers want to talk about it, share it and dream of a day they can live it like I have.

 

Completely sold on this vacation lifestyle, I soon upgraded to this brand new 25' Eddie Bauer edition in 2013. This meant that all my favourite toys could come along - I even bought a 12.6' carbon fibre sliding seat rowing dory that fits INSIDE through the hatch. On other trips I took bikes or kayaks. The ability to easily participate in all my sports interests out in the wild, off grid or hooked up at a luxury RV resort added immensely to the enjoyment of my destinations.

But life is sometimes not so kind. In June of 2018, just one month after buying a powerful 10,000 lb. plus tow capacity vehicle (2012 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn with the 3.92 axle rating - "Big Red") I suffered a life-changing severe injury to my right hand.  As 2020 approached, having tested my hand against it's glamping requirements, I had to admit that stoicism may not always conquer all. It will surely help me find new cabin-based adventures down the road though, and I have learned to golf with one hand (best score so far - 91!). My "Eddie" now has to be passed along to new owners, who will be as blessed as I have been to live the Airstream-Dream. 

 

I am Eddie's first and only owner and have cared for him like a family member (as my adult kids will attest to!) He is a furnished luxury apartment on wheels...just add linens and food and go!

For those who may never have seen an Eddie Bauer edition, I have tried to make it easy to find all the information that you need to understand Eddie's essential unique aspects.

 

This special edition upgrade of the Flying Cloud has nothing to do with the usual cosmetic "luxury edition" of upgraded vehicles. It was re-designed and outfitted with an understanding of the needs of outdoorsy types who also want Airstream's comfort and elegance. Eddie is in superb condition and is winterized every year of course. He has only one small injury - I just noticed his little 10" roof antenna needs replacing. Other than personal linens and sleeping pillows (I assume you'd want your own), he is completely furnished, immaculate and ready to go.
